On the first day of work, you can expect our crews to arrive at the job site between 8:15-9:00 am, depending how far the job site is from our shop. Please be at the house on the morning of the first day if at all possible. This will ensure that any specific and detail that are important to you will be directly communicated to the crew working on your floor.

Do you help with furniture and appliances?

Our workers expect to find areas where work is to be performed to be cleared of all furniture and appliances.Unless specifically noted on your proposal, moving of furniture and appliances is not included.

Can I stay in the house while work is performed?

Be prepared for some noise and disruption. Some people may find the finishes to have a strong odor, which may linger for a few days after the last coat has been applied.Fumes may cause an allergic reaction therefore it is recommended that home owner make arrangement to stay elsewhere for the duration, or consider going with water based finish.

What about dust?

Dust containment systems are available at additional cost. However no system is 100% dust free. Our crews will make every effort possible to control dust and keep it contained.

Is hair-lined crack normal?

Wood is hygroscopic. This means when wood is exposed to air it will dry out or pick up moisture until it is in equilibrium with the humidity and temperature of your home.It is normal for the interior of homes to become dry during heating season.Under this condition, wood flooring dries out and some shrinkage may occur.Cracks are normal as well, and will appear and disappear between floor boards during seasons of high and low humidity.Generally, anything less than the width of a dime is considered normal, and will correct itself as seasons change.Adding a humidifier to your furnace, controlled by a humidistat set at 50% relative humidity will decrease the amount of shrinkage during dry/heating season.

Important note:

Keep in mind that wood is a natural product and no two floor boards will be identical. Variations in appearance are completely normal. As your floor ages, some color change can occur. This also is normal, but can be minimized by limiting exposure to direct sunlight, and periodically moving furniture and rugs. Flooring inspectors recommend inspecting the floor from a standing position in normal lighting.
